Found many years ago

near Shoulder Bone Creek.

The embossed Pendants and Ear Spools are made of Native Cooper.

The Cross Style Shell Gorget is among the rarest of types.

The two pots are typical Lamer with rim ticking.

There is some restoration on both pots

 as they were found with stress cracks.

This is an earlier design with a

circular line around the periphery

and just outside of this line a series of dots

 or punctuates circling the disc.

Shell Hammers, Pick Axes, Celts

 

 

Found many years ago

on Big Pine Key. Made from the Busycon Perversum

or more commonly know as the Lightning Welk.

These tools were utilized as picks or hammers

 and have evidence of wear on the distal end of the columella.

Note the cut out in the aperture and the round hole to accommodate the

 wooden handles. These relics are a testimony of the resourcefulness of the Native Americans.

Probably Calusa made, but these can date back to as far as 4,500 years before present.

These items are rarely offered.

more commonly known as the Queen Conch.

The bottom pictures shows how they were

hafted and a modern example

Indians utilized to make the Celt.

This shell was selected for the strength

and thickness of this part of the shell.

Note the battered end from long use.

Clay Pipe

Comments: Your viewing an extremely rare

Weeden Island Pipe that dates

 from the Late Woodland period

circa 900 AD. Found near the small town

of Lake Park just 6 miles inside the Georgia line

below Valdosta. It was found in a small Sand Mound.

Pipes from this Culture are almost nonexistent

none the less a complete example!

It has the punch and drag rim design

 with alternating vertical lines

incised into the surface.

 A total of 14 punctates and 14 lines.

This is a communal ceremonial item

 and would have been passed

among the participants.

Comments: This interesting Pipe is

from the Early to middle Mississippian Era.

It was found in Kinchafoonee Creek

 with some of the bowl and stem missing.

It has been professionally restored.

When found it was about 80% complete.

Comments: This beautifully incised Casuela form bowl is

from the late Mississippian to Proto-Historic Era.

The design theme is well known

in the southeast and is the eternity motif.

Complete with no restoration.

A little sluffing or exfoliating on the bottom- not bad though.

A solid vessel that is getting harder and harder to get.

 Comments: Found in Bibb Co. Georgia near Macon. 

Found in a few large pieces in a trash pit. Professionally restored.

Only a few rivers in the southeast have produced

 

 socketed Bone Projectile Points, Hairpins, Fishhooks and Daggers.

 

 Because they are organic most have decomposed long ago.

 

These are getting rarer every day with good examples like these becoming especially scarce.

 

Collectors should have at least one good frame of these while their prices are currently not reflecting their rarity.

Comments: An extremely nice Antler Handle

that is socketed to receive perhaps a small bone or tooth

for use as a pressure flaker or plane. The hole is 1" deep.

Note the polish and shaping of the end.

Heavily mineralized and hard.

No preservatives were needed.

Rare to find one this nice.
